And...here's my addition:
urbanhen Travel Set

Uses for the travel set:
1. Use the bag tag to mark your black luggage as irrefutably yours. Use the zipper pouch to hold ticket info, passport, mentos, etc. Your important papers (and candy) will be easy to spot in your purse or backpack, even if you get nervous at the security line.
2. Give the set as a gift to a mom to use with her diaper bag. The bag tag adds just enough fun to a plain diaper bag. The zipper pouch gives mom a place to store things that once upon a time she put in a purse.
3. Place the bag tag on anything with a handle that you want to claim as your own. Use the zipper pouch for something else.
This particular set was made using one-of-a-kind vintage fabric found in my grandmother's stash. It actually used to be a skirt! approximate dimensions of pouch:
7" across 5" tall

We made plans for her to make me another one after the new year.
ReplyDeleteChristmas morning I opened a gift from my husband and there was the quilt I'd wanted! Yes, my friend HAD just sold it, to my husband, for ME!! She said it was a lot of fun knowing that I'd be getting it and that my husband had been so sneaky. :)

ReplyDeleteA hand knit hat in the most beautiful emerald green you can imagine was my favorite home made gift, ever.
ReplyDeleteAnd sweet mercy, I'm week in the knees for that luggage tag, it looks delightfully peppy, just what a person needs after a long flight (well a luggage tag and a gin tonic, but you're probably not shipping that).
Have a magical holiday season and thanks for the opportunity to win, fingers crossed! CenteringCoach{at}gmail{dot}com
I have actually never recieved a hand made gift. None of my friends or family are into crafting, I have no idea whats wrong with them! Thanks for the chance to win your adorable bag

ReplyDeleteMy birthday is Saturday, Dec 17th, and this would be a great birthday present!!!
ReplyDeleteThis is going to sound ridiculous, but my Mom made me a toilet paper holder for my college dorm bathroom. She was new to woodworking, and it isn't perfect, but I love it. It's my favorite color blue, and she painted "papel de bano" on it because I was studying Spanish. She died of cancer last year. The toilet paper holder makes me smile every time I see it, and reminds me of her.

The best gift ever - my grandson's hand on a ceramic plate.

I don't receive many handmade gifts, but my mom did give me a quilt top made by my grandmother in the 30s. That was actually what inspired me to learn to quilt, so it was a gift that is still giving. Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteI send quilts (pieced tops and completed)to Gugulethu in South Africa (missionary friends living there). One of the quilt tops I sent to be completed and gifted to one of the poor in the township was made into a quilt and brought back to me 2 years later (This year). This particular quilt was an applique made from many different hearts cut from my mother's stash. I am in turn giving it to my mother for Christmas this year. Long story, I know, and you only asked a simple question. Thank you for the giveaway.

ReplyDeleteI got a jar of memories and loved it
ReplyDeleteThe women in my family and my husband's family each contributed a block for a quilt. My mom and aunt assembled the quilt and I received it at my bridesmaid's luncheon. The sweetest touch was that it included a counted cross stich piece that my grandmother was working on before she passed away--13 years before I got married. akmajor (at) gmail (dot) com
ReplyDeleteWhat a darling set! I'd love to have those for when I travel to see my son, his wife and my one year old grandson.

ReplyDeleteMy step-mom made me a beautiful queen sized quilt for my 10th wedding anniversary. I've never received such a generous handmade gift before.
ReplyDeleteMy quilt for college my mom (and I think some friends) made for me when I moved from Southern Nevada to Northern Utah
ReplyDeleteOooh I'll be using a diaper bag starting next month - that would match nicely! (Mine's red, so all colors are good!) I don't know if it counts as handmade, because it wasn't handmade by him, but - my brother, aged 12, got me earrings from a little guy who was making them at Philmont (boy scout camp) for my 21st birthday. What kind of kid does that for his sister? He's such a great brother. (They're still my favorite earrings.)
ReplyDeleteOne of my ex-boyfriends made me a piece of furniture - it was fabulous!
